10 Fast Kozhukattai Recipe for Vinayagar Chaturthi: Vinayaga Chaturthi /Ganesh Chaturthi/ Pillayar Chaturthi is the birthday of Lord Vigneshwara is a Famous Hindu Festival, which is celebrated throughout India in a grand manner. Kozhukattai, aval, sundal are the favorite dishes of Lord Ganesha.

Making sweets on that day and thanking Ganesh brings prosperous into our life. making different types of kozhukattai is a great hobby for homemakers but most of us won't get it perfectly.

To ease these I have highlighted different types of kozhukatta and how to make it fast.

1. Pal Kozhukattai

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup

  • Coconut grated – 1 cup and take milk from it

  • Water - 2 and 1/2 cup

  • Sugar - 3/4 cup

  • Milk – ½ cup

  • Water - 1 cup

  • Cardamom powder - 2 pinches

  • Ghee - 1 tsp

  • Sesame oil - 4 tsp

  • Salt - A pinch

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

  • Take a pan pour a cup of milk and 1 cup water, one tablespoon ghee and 1 cup rice flour and add a pinch of salt.

  • Keep heating it in a medium flame and stir it continuously until all the water gets evaporated and forms a thick dough.

  • Add 3tablespoon oil and form a perfect dough make it non-sticky.

  • Make it into tiny balls like seedai. Take 2 cups of water in a heavy bottomed vessels and add coconut grated into it.

  • Mix well without getting lumps. Add the tiny balls into it and boil well again and again until the ball floats. Add cardamom powder to it.

  • Now add the remaining coconut milk, water and sugar then boil again.

  • Turn off the stove when the milk gets thicken.

Additional Tips: For better taste add jaggery to it.

2. Ragi Pidi Kozhukattai

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

Ingredients:

  • Ragi flour – 1 cup

  • Urad dal – 1/2 cup

  • Coconut, grated – 1 cup

  • Green chilli – 2

  • Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp

  • Salt – 2 tablespoon

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

  • Soak urad dal for 1 hrs. In a mixer, grind green chili and urad dal coarsely.

  • In a heavy bottomed pan, heat amt of oil and add mustard, curry leaves and asafoetida.

  • Boil one cup of water with salt add urad dal, grated coconut into it and add a pinch of asafetida. add ragi flour to it And Stir briskly continually

  • Prepare a perfect dough then divide it into equal balls and make it a shape of cylinder with your finger impression.

  • Steam cook it for 5mins and turn off the stove.

Additional Tips: Add jaggery instead of greenchilli slat in water

3. Coconut sweet Kozhukattai

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup

  • Coconut grated – 1 cup and take milk from it

  • Water - 2 and 1/2 cup

  • Sugar - 3/4 cup

  • Milk – ½ cup

  • Water - 1 cup

  • Cardamom powder - 2 pinches

  • Ghee - 1 tsp

  • Sesame oil - 4 tsp

  • Salt - A pinch

  • Steam cook it for 5mins and turn off the stove.

4. Kara(Spicy Modak) kozhukattai

  • Do As same as raagi kozhukatta.

  • Instead of ragi flour add rice flour.

  • Make it in a modak shape.use modak mould for a perfect finish.

Additional Tips: add big pieces of coconut to increase taste

5. Ammini Kozhukattai

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

Ingredients:

  • Urad dal – 1/2 cup

  • Coconut, grated – 1 cup

  • Green chilli – 2

  • Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp

  • Salt – 2 tablespoon

  • Moong dal/ Pasi paruppu - 2 tblsp

  • Mustard

  • Curry leaves

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

  • Soak moong dal for 1 hrs.

  • Boil water in a heavy bottomed pan add salt, sesame oil to it. Stir the flour briskly until it becomes soft dough. Turn off the stove.

  • Make it into tiny balls. Steam it for 5mins in a steamer or idli cooker.

  • In a heavy bottomed pan, heat amt of oil and add mustard, curry leaves and asafoetida.
    And cooked moong dal and fry it.

  • Add steamed balls into it and mix well.

  • Finally, add grated coconut and mix gently.

6.Kara pidi Kozhukattai

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour – 1 cup

  • Urad dal – 1/2 cup

  • Coconut, grated – 1 cup

  • Green chilli – 2

  • Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp

  • Salt – 2 tablespoon

7. Fried Modak

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour/ atta – 1/2 cup, heaped

  • Water – as needed

  • Salt – as needed

  • grated coconut – 1/2 cup

  • Jaggery – 1/4 cup

  • Cardamom – 1 , powdered

  • Take a pan pour a cup of milk and 1 cup water, one tablespoon ghee and 1 cup rice flour and add a pinch of salt.

  • Keep heating it in a medium flame and stir it continuously until all the water gets evaporated and forms a thick dough.

  • Add 3tablespoon oil and form a perfect dough make it non-sticky.

  • For pooranam, place grated coconut jaggery and elachi powder in a pan, with 2 tblsp of water and fry. When it gets separated turn off the stove.

  • Make the dough spread like modak add the required amount of pooranam to it and close it like a comb or use modak mould.

  • Fold the edges like a design.

  • Heat oil in hard bottomed kadai and fry these modak balls until it becomes golden brown in color.

  • Serve hot.

8.Pidi Kozhukattai

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour – 1 cup

  • Urad dal – 1/2 cup

  • Coconut, grated – 1 cup

  • Jaggery 1/4kg

  • Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp

  • Salt – 2 tablespoon

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

  • Soak urad dal for 1 hrs. In a mixer, grind  urad dal coarsely.

  • In a heavy bottomed pan, heat amt of oil and add water and jaggery boil to the consistent.

  •  Add rice flour to it And Stir briskly continually with grated coconut.

  • Prepare a perfect dough then divide it into equal balls and make it a shape of cylinder with your finger impression.

  • Steam cook it for 5mins and turn off the stove.

9. Ellu kozhukattai(Sesame Modak)

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup

  • sesame cleaned – 1 cup

  • Water - 2 and 1/2 cup

  • jaggery- 3/4 cup

  • Milk – ½ cup

  • Water - 1 cup

  • Cardamom powder - 2 pinches

  • Ghee - 1 tsp

  • Sesame oil - 4 tsp

  • Salt - A pinch

  • Make the dough spread like chapathi add the required amount of pooranam to it and close it by folding both sides or prepare like a modak shape using shape moulder.

  • Fold the edges like a design.

  • Steam cook it for 5mins and turn off the stove.

10.Pooran Kozhukattai(Channa dal)

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup

  • channa dal– 1 cup soaked

  • Water - 2 and 1/2 cup

  • jaggery- 3/4 cup

  • Milk – ½ cup

  • Water - 1 cup

  • Cardamom powder - 2 pinches

  • Ghee - 1 tsp

  • Sesame oil - 4 tsp

  • Salt - A pinch

Fast Kozhukattai Recipe Preparation:

  • Grind channa dal with jaggery coarsely and keep aside/

  • Take a pan to add 1 cup water, one tablespoon ghee and 1 cup rice flour and add a pinch of salt.

  • Keep heating it in a medium flame and stir it continuously until all the water gets evaporated and forms a thick dough.

  • Add 3tablespoon oil and form a perfect dough make it non-sticky.

  • For pooranam, place channa dal mix and elachi powder in a pan,  fry. When it gets separated turn off the stove.

  • Make the dough spread like chapathi add the required amount of pooranam to it and close it by folding both sides or prepare like a modak shape using shape moulder.

  • Fold the edges like a design.

  • Steam cook it for 5mins and turn off the stove.
